Brief character biography

Winnie the Pooh got his name from one of Christopher Robin’s toys, the son of Alan Milne. The cute plush bear was named after a bear named Winnie, who lived in the London Zoo in the distant 1920s. When the writer’s son was 4 years old, they first went to this zoo, where Christopher met the bear. It was after this event that the plush bear given as a birthday present was named Winnie the Pooh.

The Winnie the Pooh books and his friends were created by Alan based on oral conversations and games with his son, as the author himself said: “I didn’t make anything up, I just had to write it down.” Winnie’s birthday is considered to be August 21, 1921.

Among Christopher’s toys were also other famous characters: Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, and Roo. During developing games, all characters acquire personality, individual habits, and speech patterns.
